The Cubic Zirconia diamond comes closer than any other gem at matching the characteristics of a diamond. Most people, even trained gemologists, struggle to tell the difference between a diamond and a CZ with the naked eye.
A CZ appears to have slightly less brilliance (or sparkle) than a diamond, and more fire, or flashes of color. A CZ may not be as resistant to heat as diamonds and may crack and burn more easily under high temperature.
Because a CZ scratches more easily, with time, it may start to look worn. Keep in mind that this stone is more brittle than diamond. Handle it with love and care.
